Hi experts,

I have some of these WAPs and they all have 8dbi high-gain antennas. Im wondering if I need to tune the "power local cck/ofdm" to certain values to match the antenna gain to make it work the best. The radio is operating in b/g mode. Here is the current config of interface Dot11Radio0.

interface Dot11Radio0
no ip address
no ip unreachables
no ip route-cache
!
ssid XXXXXX

!
speed basic-1.0 basic-2.0 basic-5.5 6.0 9.0 basic-11.0 12.0 18.0 24.0 36.0 48.0 54.0
no preamble-short
channel 2412
station-role root
rts threshold 2312
antenna gain 8
no dot11 extension aironet
bridge-group 1
bridge-group 1 subscriber-loop-control
bridge-group 1 port-protected
bridge-group 1 block-unknown-source
no bridge-group 1 source-learning
no bridge-group 1 unicast-flooding
bridge-group 1 spanning-disabled
end

Id also appreciate if you can point out any improper config under this interface. Thanks!

Hi,

No.  You don have to configure the power setting.  You can configure any power value you want, and the AP will compensate for the antenna gain to make sure that the TX power doesn go over the FCC regulation.

So just leave the power to MAX and the AP will auto adjust it based on the regulation domain. Got it! Thanks!
